Clevedon Salerooms latest quarterly offering boasts just shy of 800 carefully selected lots.

Auctioneer Toby Pinn said: "A particularly interesting militaria section has created global interest and includes what has been described by Collectors as one of the finest private collections of German daggers to come on the market in the last decade.

"Online bidders are expected to secure many of the finest pieces bidding from the comfort of their home, bunker or perhaps tanks."

He said some of the pieces are comfortably expected to realise four figure sums.

Entries from this side of enemy lines include an RAF uniform estimated at £100 - £150 and a cockpit clock from a Lancaster reputed to haven taken part in the Dam Busting Raids.

A Bailey, Pegg & Co bronze signalling cannon strategically placed in the garden may be the answer to troublesome neighbours but the £300 - £450 estimate does not include cannon balls.

The collectors' items section includes a fine 19th Century Vizagapatam chessboard housing three interior boxes to be estimated at £800 - £1,200 while a scratch built 3 ½ inch gauge live steam loco & tender is estimated at £750 - £1,000.

The silver section has a charming and rare Victorian Mussel shaped vinaigrette by Mordan & Co dated 1880. This 5cm long mollusc is estimated at £1,500 - £2,000.

The auction starts at 10.30am on Thursday, September 10, with viewing being available on Tuesday, from 2-5.30pm, Wednesday, 10am-7.30pm and from 9am on Thursday.
